Excellence for Tomorrow: Innovative Approaches for WNY Health Care

The Reaching for Excellence Speaker Series kicked off 2008 with a discussion on the region’s urban safety-net, and was followed up with the success of our fourth event, Healthcare Disparities, on December 15th, 2008. Stay tuned for announcements of forthcoming events. In 2007, two events featured national expert presentations on models of excellence in elder and rural health care, generating important discussion about Western New York’s health care future in these areas. We encourage you to read more about these events (Elder Care-Nov. 15, and Rural Care-Dec. 10, The Urban Safety-Net-Mar. 12 and Disparities-Dec. 15).

If you attended any of the series' first three events, please take a few moments to complete our feedback surveys:

The process of setting goals for improving the Western New York health care system begins with taking lessons from other regions. To help us learn from what others have done, the "Excellence for Tomorrow" speaker series will showcase best practices and communities of excellence in a range of health care and health issues facing Western New York, including:

  • How are other regions ensuring their health system is prepared for the aging population?
  • What communities have built sound and sustainable high-quality safety nets for the poor and underserved?
  • How have others developed health care systems that effectively deliver services to rural populations?
  • What kind of efforts can be found in other communities for the reduction of disparities?
  • Along with other topics of interest.

To take place through 2009, the speaker series features expert presentations, reactions from Western New York leaders and audience discussion. All forums are free of charge and open to the public.
